While nomination does not automatically guarantee a seat on the MIC Board of Trustees, we are committed to thoroughly reviewing all nominations and selecting the best candidates according to MIC's current needs.
Who can nominate?
Any current member of the greater Memphis area Muslim community can nominate for a position on the MIC Board.
Who is eligible for the MIC Board?
Must be a Sunni Muslim who attests to the five pillars of Islam
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years old
Must be a United States citizen or Permanent Resident
Must be a resident of the Greater Memphis area for at least twelve (12) months
Must believe in the vision and mission of the Corporation as defined by the Board in the Corporation's organizational documents
Must have been an active donor in good standing and/or must have been an active volunteer for the Corporation in the past twelve (12) months
Must speak fluent English
Must not be the subject of pending criminal proceedings of any sort or have a past criminal record that would adversely affect the Corporation as an organization or its employees, trustees, officers, or other constituents
Must not have been found guilty of major Islamic impropriety, as determined by the religious leadership in consultation with the existing Board of Trustees
