Sisters Religious Coordinator (Part-Time)
Organization: Memphis Islamic Center (MIC)
Reports To: Youth Director & Executive Director

The Sisters Religious Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and supporting programs and initiatives that engage and nurture Muslim women and girls (middle school through college age) at MIC. This role focuses on creating a safe, welcoming, and spiritually enriching environment that supports identity, mentorship, and community connection.

Religious Program Development & Execution
Plan, organize, and lead weekly and monthly programs (halaqas, socials, workshops, etc.) for girls and women across various age groups
Collaborate with the Youth Director to align programming with MIC’s overall youth strategy
Develop age-appropriate content focused on Islamic identity, character development, and real-life challenges
Coordinate special events (retreats, conferences, Ramadan programming, etc.)
Develop structured short-term and long term programming plans
Relationship Building & Mentorship
Provide compassionate one on one spiritual support and mentorship to girls and women
Build strong, trust-based relationships with youth participants
Serve as trusted and approachable resource for religious guidance
Identify and support sisters facing social, emotional, or spiritual challenges
Maintain appropriate boundaries and refer individuals to qualified professionals when necessary
Volunteer & Leader Development
Recruit, train, and manage a team of 3-5 consistent female youth volunteers and peer leaders
Delegate responsibilities effectively to support programming and events
Empower high school and college students to take leadership roles in programming
Foster a pipeline of future female leaders within the community
Community & Social Engagement
Plan and execute social events that foster sisterhood, belonging, and community connection
Engage with parents to keep them informed and involved in youth programming
Collaborate with other MIC committees (education, events, communications)
Support outreach efforts to increase participation among sisters and create welcoming spaces for both practicing and less engaged sisters
Community Collaboration
Partner with women in the Memphis community to co-create and support meaningful programming
Engage with parents, volunteers, and community members to ensure programs meet community needs
Build relationships that strengthen overall participation and impact
Logistics & Operations
Coordinate scheduling, room bookings, and program materials
Ensure programs run smoothly and safely in accordance with MIC policies
Track attendance and provide feedback/reporting to the Youth Director

Qualifications
Strong understanding of Islamic principles and youth development
Experience working with youth and/or women, preferably in a community, educational, or masjid setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to connect with and mentor young Muslim women
Organized, proactive, and able to execute programs independently
Passion for community building, mentorship, and youth empowerment
Preferred Qualifications
Background in education, counseling, psychology, or Islamic studies
Prior experience leading youth programs or halaqas
Familiarity with the Memphis Muslim community (or similar communities)
Work Schedule
Flexible, but must be available for:
Evenings (weekly programming)
Weekends (events and activities)
