Owned & Paid Media Manager (Part-Time)
Organization: Memphis Islamic Center (MIC)
Reports To: Executive Director
Employment Type: Part-TimePosition Summary
The Owned & Paid Media Manager owns Memphis Islamic Center's (MIC) digital media presence end to end — both the organic (owned) social media channels and the paid acquisition function. This includes planning and publishing organic content, as well as executing, optimizing, and reporting on paid campaigns, with Meta (Facebook and Instagram) as the primary paid platform today. This role ensures MIC's social presence is consistent and engaging, and that advertising dollars are used effectively to generate measurable results — event registrations, program participation, donations, and community engagement. Working directly with the Executive Director, the Owned & Paid Media Manager manages the approved advertising budget, maintains a rolling content and marketing calendar, coordinates creative production, publishes and engages on organic channels, launches and optimizes paid campaigns, and delivers clear performance reporting and recommendations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, results driven digital marketer who can work independently and market thoughtfully within MIC's community and religious environment.
-
Owned Media & Organic Content
• Own MIC's organic social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, and other channels as adopted); plan and publish regular organic content aligned with the marketing calendar and community priorities.
• Maintain a content calendar for organic posts, coordinating timing and messaging with paid campaigns for a consistent voice across channels.
• Monitor comments, messages, and community engagement on social channels; respond or route promptly and in a manner consistent with MIC's tone and values.
• Track organic performance (reach, engagement rate, follower growth) and use insights to inform paid targeting, creative, and messaging. Paid Media Management & Optimization
• Own MIC's paid media accounts — primarily Meta Ads Manager, and TikTok— and build, launch, monitor, and optimize campaigns across audiences, targeting, placements, budgets, and bidding.
• Continuously test audiences, creative, messaging, offers/CTAs, campaign structure, and landing pages; make timely optimization decisions and reallocate budget away from underperformers.
• Stay current on Meta and other paid social advertising policies, targeting capabilities, and best practices; recommend expansion into additional paid channels (e.g., Google Ads) as budget and results warrant.
Budget Management & Performance
• Manage spend within the Executive Director–approved budget; monitor pacing daily/weekly and allocate toward the highestperforming initiatives.
• Track ROAS/ROI where revenue is directly measurable; for non-revenue campaigns, use KPIs such as cost per registration, lead, attendee, donation, or acquisition, and landing-page conversion rate.
• The focus is on results, not simply spending the allocated budget. Recommend budget increases, reductions, or reallocations to the Executive Director. Marketing Calendar
• Own and maintain a rolling 30–90 day marketing calendar covering religious/community events, classes and educational programs, fundraising and donation drives, youth/family programs, outreach, and seasonal campaigns.
• For each initiative, define: Objective → Audience → Offer/Message → Creative → Launch Date → Campaign Period → Budget → KPI → Results. Prioritize initiatives with the Executive Director.
Creative Coordination
• Own the creative pipeline for both organic and paid content, without necessarily producing assets personally: write creative briefs, coordinate staff/designers/volunteers/freelancers, and ensure assets (static graphics, Reels, testimonials, carousel and retargeting creative, event and impact stories) are delivered on the calendar's timeline and reused efficiently across owned and paid channels.
• Provide direction on headlines, messaging, CTAs, formats, and concepts; review creative pre-launch for alignment with objectives; maintain a library of approved assets. Campaign Strategy
• Awareness – build visibility for MIC, its programs, and community; Events – drive registrations and attendance; Community Growth – generate members, followers, and leads.
• Fundraising – support donation campaigns; Education – promote classes, lectures, and workshops; Retargeting – re-engage site visitors, video viewers, and incomplete registrants. Analytics, Reporting & Tracking
• Deliver a concise weekly report to the Executive Director covering spend, registrations/leads, donations attributed, ROAS, cost per result, reach, CTR, CPC, and conversion rate — plus best/worst campaign, key learning, and recommended action.
• Ensure the Meta Pixel, conversion events, and UTM tracking are properly implemented and that landing pages connect correctly to campaigns; escalate tracking issues. When performance is weak, evaluate the full funnel (ad → landing page → registration/donation → conversion) rather than assuming the ad itself is the problem.
Collaboration with the Executive Director
• Meet regularly to set monthly priorities, approve budgets and major campaigns, review performance, and identify upcoming opportunities. Bring recommendations and solutions proactively rather than waiting for direction.

Formal religious credentials are not required, but the candidate must respect MIC's mission, values, and religious environment; communicate professionally with leadership, staff, volunteers, and the community; and understand that marketing within a faithbased nonprofit requires authenticity, trust, sensitivity, and community awareness — promoting programs without relying on overly commercial tactics that could conflict with MIC's values. Familiarity with Muslim community organizations and basic Islamic terminology is a plus.

We're looking for someone performance-driven, analytical, organized, and hands-on — comfortable opening the ads platform, reading the numbers, and making changes without waiting to be told. Equally, this person can step back and think strategically: What are we trying to accomplish? Who are we reaching? What should we say? What creative do we need? How much should we spend? And did it work? This is a part-time role, but not a passive one. The Owned & Paid Media Manager is expected to take ownership of MIC's organic and paid media performance and proactively surface opportunities, problems, and recommendations to the Executive Director.
