Dr. Hassan Almoazen

Dr. Hassan Almoazen earned his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Damascus University and his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. After a career in the pharmaceutical industry at Novartis and Wyeth, he joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center UTHSC as a faculty in the College of Pharmacy where he earned a national and international reputation. He is currently an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics and the Director of the PhD program in Pharmaceutical Sciences. He trained many graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, authored many publications in drug delivery and formulation science, received numerous grants and earned multiple US and international patents and is interested in entrepreneurship. Dr. Almoazen has served on the boards of several Islamic organizations in Memphis. He has been on the board of Masjid Alnoor, the Muslim Society of Memphis, Masjid ArRahman, and joined several committees with the Memphis Islamic Center (MIC) and Pleasant View School (PVS). He and his wife Joumana are raising 4 children (Sara, Massa, Dalia, and Adnan). He enjoys science, learning about Islam, Quran, and Sunnah. As a new incoming board member of MIC, he is interested in strengthening the current educational, social, and athletic programs for families who are eager to connect with the community at MIC and is looking forward to establishing new mentorship programs for current and future college students, as well as connecting the MIC to prestigious Islamic Universities as a satellite campus and future hub for an Arabic and Quranic Institute of Memphis.
